Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 7, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how SnapShelf (“SnapShelf”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use our website and the SnapShelf macOS application (together, the “Service”). SnapShelf is designed to be local-first and privacy-respecting.
Our local-first principle
Your screenshots and screen recordings are stored locally on your Mac. We do not upload, view, transmit, or back up the content you capture. There is no cloud sync of your captures, no background uploading, and no analytics performed on their contents.
The one exception is a share link you create yourself. If you choose “Copy 7-Day Share Link” on a capture, that single file is uploaded to our storage provider (Supabase) so the link can be opened by whoever you send it to. This only ever happens when you ask for it, one capture at a time. The stored file is private — it is served only through short-lived signed URLs generated when someone opens your link — and it is deleted automatically after 7 days. You can revoke a link earlier from the app, which deletes the stored file immediately. We do not view the contents of shared files or perform analytics on them.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication identifiers needed to sign you in (handled by our auth provider, Supabase).
- Purchase records. When you buy a license, we store a record of your purchase and your license/entitlement status so the app can verify access. Card details are processed by Stripe and never reach our servers.
- Essential operational data. Basic, transient information needed to operate the website securely (for example, request logs from our hosting provider). We do not run third-party advertising or behavioral tracking.
Information we do not collect
- The contents of your screenshots or screen recordings.
- The names or contents of your project folders or files on disk.
- Behavioral analytics or advertising profiles about you.
How we use information
- To create and authenticate your account.
- To process your one-time purchase and activate your license.
- To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
- To keep the Service secure and prevent fraud or abuse.
Service providers (processors)
We rely on a small number of trusted providers who process data on our behalf:
- Stripe — payment processing. Stripe handles your payment details under its own privacy policy.
- Supabase — authentication and storage of account and entitlement records.
These providers process information only to deliver their services to us and are bound by their respective privacy and security commitments.
We do not sell your data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not share it with third parties except the processors above, or where required by law.
Data retention
We retain account and purchase records for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Children
SnapShelf is not directed to children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be communicated where appropriate.
